Geriatric Psychiatrist

Adam Simning, MD, PhD

I was born and raised in Minnesota, graduated from Pomona College in Southern California, and came to Rochester in 2005 to attend medical school at University of Rochester. At University of Rochester, I completed a general psychiatry residency in 2017 and a geriatric psychiatry fellowship in 2018. Before transitioning to private practice in 2023, I spent over a decade conducting public health research on issues related to healthy aging and aging in place, with more than 50 peer-reviewed journal articles as well as federally funded research projects.

I believe in a patient-centered and directed approach to care. I enjoy working with patients from various racial and ethnic backgrounds and diverse sexual orientations. My aim is to understand your goals and work with you to identify ways to help you reach these goals. Because so many factors can influence our mental well-being, I enjoy working with people to develop treatment plans that use the full scope of biopsychosocial treatment options available to us.
